| Millions of years ago there was no such thing as a seed.
I have no idea how the first seed came into being, but there are billions now. Walk through a weedy meadow and they're all around you, ready to re-create the plant they represent.
Some seeds have sprung forth into life after lying dormant for thousands of years. Some, such as redwood tree seeds inside the cone, can only come to life after intense fire. Some have their own 'boring-into-the-earth' designs so they can root more easily. Some have their own parachutes to carry them on the winds.
There are seeds so small you can't see them, and seeds as big as your fist. All over the earth, seeds blow in the wind and are spread by birds, reaching the far corners of the Earth, where they're able to adapt to the environment and start new plants.
There didn't have to be seeds!
