  • The river winds through Guadalupe River Park, which is open to the public.

Location:
The Pioneer High School BioSITE Program study site is along Guadalupe Creek directly behind the high school.

Schools who collect data at this site:
Elementary Schools that have been Pioneer BioSITE schools include: Randol, Carson, Hacienda, and Almaden Elementary.

Site Facts:

  • Students at Pioneer High School that become BioSITE field Teachers are enrolled in a full year environmental science course, co-taught by Mr. Zacchio of Pioneer High School and Sandy Derby of Children's Discovery Museum.
  • This site has been part of a major restoration project of the Santa Clara Valley Water District.
  • Pioneer High School BioSITE students learn environmental course content, complete field surveys and collect water quality data over the course of each year. Research Scientists working on current issues facing our Guadalupe River Watershed meet with students to share their work and discuss findings.
