Featured Exhibit: Living in Space

February 6, 2010 through May 9, 2010

Become an International Space Station (ISS) “crewmember” and engage in a multitude of astronaut activities in Living in Space, CDM’s newest hands-on traveling exhibit. Plan a day in space, perform crewmembers’ work, including a simulated science experiment, and see how everyday endeavors, such as mealtimes or play/free-time choices, are different when your feet aren’t on terra firma. Immerse yourself in this unique space environment and learn about a day in the life of an ISS crewmember. It’s out-of-this-world!

Classroom Lesson Plans: Pre-K through 8th grade, targeting Grades K through 4

Living in Space was designed and built by The Children’s Museum of Memphis for the Youth Museum Exhibit Collaborative (YMEC).

Exhibit galleries are fully wheelchair accessible, and offer multi-sensory, layered experiences for children of varying developmental stages, interests and backgrounds.

Run! Jump! Fly!
Adventures in Action

May 28, 2010 through September 9, 2010

Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose will showcase Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action™, beginning May 28, 2010 through September 9, 2010.

The exhibit, developed by Minnesota Children’s Museum, is designed to rediscover the fun in being physically active. Featuring the theme of action adventures popular in children’s books and movies, the homegrown exhibition invites visitors to jump into “Action Star Training” – play activities that build strength, coordination, balance and endurance. Children explore activities such as kung fu, surfing, snowboarding, yoga and horizontal climbing; the primary goal of the exhibit is to get kids into action by playing and doing things they like to do. Throughout the exhibit, kids and accompanying adults stamp the activities they tried on Action Trackers. Visitors can also take home 3-Day Mission Action Tracker – activity logs that encourage people to get physically active for a total of 60 minutes a day.
