Highlights from Previous Events:

We celebrated African-American culture together with our partner, Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) in 2022. We watched a variety of animated short films, found our rhythm during a drumming workshop, and caught the beat by making our very own drum to practice at home. We discovered the vast richness of the African Diaspora through a mix of shorts created for children by seasoned and emerging filmmakers that ran throughout the day.

Master Drummer Pope Flyne, a Ghanaian-born performer, composer, and educator led a drumming workshop and invited us to try our hands at some traditional African drums. Then we topped off the day by making your own percussion instrument!
