In honor of the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, we will share two traditional Chinese tales. A mouse leader seeks the strongest husband for his daughter in this ancient tale…someone who can protect her from the cat! The book from which the illustrations are taken is winner of the 1992 Catalonia International Illustrator Award.

How were the 12 animals chosen for the Chinese Zodiac, and why did the rat come first? Your questions will be answered in this hilarious version of the legend, through breathtaking, colorful “paper-cutting” illustrations.
