Two-time World Cup Champion and Olympic Gold-Medalist, Brandi has used her celebrity to advance girls in sports and leadership. The Bay Area native is best known for elevating the profile of women’s soccer with her game winning penalty kick in the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She authored the book It’s not about the Bra and is a soccer analyst on ABC/ESPN and NBC Sports. Through her work with BAWSI, Brandi has been instrumental in mobilizing women athletes to be role models for girls in under-resourced communities. Today, BAWSI’s Girls Curriculum serves 15,000 primarily low-income girls in San Jose each year, pioneering innovative approaches to engage children (or youth) in athletics, career development, leadership and lifelong health.
