The BioSITE Educator is a highly visible position, especially with external communities. This position coordinates an innovative, field-based science program for students in elementary and high schools. The BioSITE (Students Investigating Their Environment) is an environmental science field program for high school and elementary students offered by Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose. Primary responsibilities include participating in student and teacher training, coordinating materials for and implementation of program activities, and working directly with high school and elementary school students.
Minimum employment standards are:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, environmental studies, and/or education
- Knowledge of environmental science
- Experience implementing hands-on science curriculum for children and adults
- Strong commitment to inquiry-based science programming
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a team
- Ability to work outdoors, lifting and carrying equipment
This is a part-time (16 – 20 hours per week), non-exempt position and reports directly to the Director of Education & Programs. The rate of pay is $20 per hour.
