Director of Marketing & Communications
Joey spent the majority of his career in the tech industry in high-end computer hardware marketing. His passion for the non-profit world flourished in a very unlikely way when he worked as Marketing Manager for a boutique construction firm in Orange County, CA. He was the corporate liaison responsible for social responsibility initiatives and rallied employees to join in community outreach programs with established non-profits like Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club of Southern California, Red Cross, Olive Crest, and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. He was immediately drawn to the personalities and passion from those in the non-profit industry, so when an opportunity presented itself to work for the YMCA of Silicon Valley, he quickly jumped on board. He was able to combine his skills in marketing with the passion he always had for helping others, specifically children and families. After COVID took a hit on his career and was furloughed from the Y, he searched high and low for his next great move and Children’s Discovery Museum came in for the rescue. He has quickly acclimated to the re-energizing movement of the museum through the tail end of COVID and is driving the rebranding and resurgence of the Purple Museum.
