Bilingual Storytime: My Skeleton Family/Mi Familia Calaca

Families come in all shapes, sizes, and styles. Some have muscles and skin, and others are… skeletons? This rollicking and colorful bilingual storytime features the history of Mexico’s Day of the Dead and is (skeleton) family fun for all!

Let’s Get Creative: Create a Pride Flag

We all know the colorful Pride flag, but do you know what it means and where it came from? Learn more about this meaningful symbol of the LGBTQ+ community and create your very own flag to wave at our Pride Parade on Friday!

Materials Needed: black marker, color markers (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple), white piece of paper

Science Is Everywhere: Family Kaleidoscope – Reflected Light

Do you have special traditions or small items that are special to your family? Turn some of these meaningful objects into a family kaleidoscope! Learn about light reflection while seeing your family in a whole new light.

Materials Needed: small family objects you can craft with, toilet paper roll, markers or decorations, sheet of white cardstock, tinfoil, straw or skewer, bowl about 3 in. across, glue, tape, scissors, ruler, pencil, dime or penny

Storytime: The Family Book

Toddler Fun: Make a Family Crown! (In Vietnamese)

Join us for a royally fun time making family crowns! What does family mean? Who is your family? What do you all enjoy doing together? How do you feel when you think of them? Create a family crown that celebrates the people in your life and wear your family pride on your head!

Materials Needed: 1 piece of construction paper (for headband), 1 piece of construction paper (for front crown shape), markers, crayons, stickers, scissors, stapler/tape

Eco Explorers: The Three Sisters

It’s time for our very first Eco Explorers segment! Come learn about the Three Sisters — corn, beans, and squash. These three plants grow beautifully together, supporting each other, helping each other thrive, and living in a symbiotic relationship. Just like sisters! In the first of this three-part series, learn how to plant corn and watch it sprout.
