A Seat at the Table

Join us Saturday, June 2 for “A Seat at the Table,” a traveling creative space that invites children and families to come together to hear, see, and share the stories of our diverse Silicon Valley community. This pop-up art installation engages participants to explore connections between food, cultural identity, and immigrant experiences through creative expression in sculpture, poetry and performance.

This multi-sensory experience features performances by local artists and engages participants in creating food sculptures, sparking conversations, and building community poems.

“A Seat at the Table” will be outdoors in Bill’s Backyard. Featured artists include local San Jose poets Vuong Vu, Rachelle Escamilla, Pushpa MacFarlane, and the Able2Shine performance group.

This event is included with museum admission.

A Seat at the Table is proud to be included among the leading-edge multi-disciplinary exhibitions offered community-wide on the theme of New Terrains: Mobility and Migration, an initiative coordinated by San Jose Museum of Art.
