Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check availability or get more information about the birthday party program?
Answer: Click the button above that says “Submit a Birthday Party Inquiry.” This takes you to a basic form where you can fill in information about the party you are planning. A member of our birthday party team will get back to you usually within 48 hours via email.
How do I move forward with booking?
Answer: Make sure you have filled out an inquiry form, so we have all the basic information to get started. Once you have chosen your date and we determine it is available, we need a minimum payment equal to the starting price of the package you select to secure your date/time. We take credit/debit card over the phone. Please call our Birthday Party Coordinator at 408-673-2850.
Do I have to know how many guests are coming at the time of booking?
All that we need to secure your date is a minimum payment equal to the starting price for the package you chose... Your final guest list is due the Thursday before your event. On the day of your party, you are not charged for no-shows. You will be charged $15 per person over the number included in your package (20 for Purple room and 25 for Teal room).
How far in advance do you tend to book?
Answer: Our birthday party program tends to book 3-8 weeks in advance. So submit your inquiry today! Sometimes there are cancellations, so if you’re looking for something 2 weeks or less please still submit an inquiry. We will get back to you on currently availability.
Do Museum Members need to be included on my guest list?
Children 12 months and older, birthday child, yourself and members in your immediate family, as well as party guests who are members of the museum should be included your event guest list/headcount. Membership doesn’t cover entry for special programs, family nights, birthday parties or concerts.
Can I bring in my own food?
You are more than welcome to bring in any food that you’d like. There is no additional fee to bring in outside food. If items such as the cake need to be refrigerated before your party we can accommodate this request. However, we have no way to bring food from cold to hot (ex. microwave, stove or heaters).
The Museum also has a partnership with Pizza My Heart that allows us to order large pizzas and salads from them. For more information on how to order - please contact our Birthday Party Coordinator.
What is the schedule once we are in the private party room?
Answer: The party usually flows best in the following order:
Food (eat it while it’s hot, and it’s easier to do this as guests trickle in)
Activity (these are best done when all the kids are in the room, so that our staff can walk them thru the activity together as a group)
Finish with cake/desserts & Happy Birthday (This assures that if anyone is very late they are still at the party for the most important part).
If you choose not to add on an activity, we will have your guests eat food and finish with cake/happy birthday. It is your celebration; therefore the party hosts will follow your lead if you would like your party to flow a bit different.
What is your cancellation policy?
Answer: If you cancel outside of 2 weeks from your event, you will receive a refund on the initial starting price that you paid minus a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel inside of 2 weeks your initial payment is non-refundable.
When are all final decisions due?
Answer: Your final guest list with everyone’s first and last names is due by the Thursday before your party. All decisions for add-ons need to be final one week before your party.
Why does your party program limit us to only 20 children for the Purple Party Room and 30 children for the Teal Party Room?
Answer: For the Purple Party Room, we only have 20 child size chairs. For the Teal Room, we only have 30 child size chairs. With the size of the room we have found that our staff cannot facilitate any more than these numbers. With larger numbers in either space, guests tend to be less satisfied with their party experience. Our goal is for you and your guests to be very happy with your party, wherever you have it!

If I choose the Purple Party Room Package – when would I have to add on the additional room?
Answer: The Purple Party Room can hold a maximum of 30 total guests (children and adults). For the safety of our staff and guests, this number in non-negotiable. If you invite more than 30 guests you will need to add on our additional room, which is a $100.00 per hour fee. Once you add on the additional room, the two rooms can have a total of 60 guests (children and adults). PLEASE NOTE: Even if you add on the additional room, the Purple room package still has a maximum of maxes 20 children. The Purple Party Room has all the child seating, the additional room provides seating for the adults at your party.
Do we have to pay for parking?
The parking lots surrounding the museum are independently owned and operated. The parking lot on Auzerias is cash-only and the lot on Woz Way is cash or card.
Can parents just drop off their kids to come to the party?
The Museum requires a 3 to 1 ratio for children to adults. We are a no “drop off” party location and require the child’s parent/guardian to accompany them to the party. One of the advantages of our birthday party program is that it allows for your guests to enjoy the Museum all day. They are welcome to come into the Museum when it opens until your party time and also play after, until the Museum closes. It is free play in the Museum with the general public and we do not provide supervision during this time for the birthday party guests.
Can my guests leave the room during the party to play?
Once guests have entered the party we do ask that they remain in the room for the full length of the party (restroom use is an exception). Your private time in the party room is limited and we do not want them to miss out on any of the fun!
Do my guests get all day access? What time should I invite them to come?
Your guests get full day access to the Museum. On Saturday’s normal operating hours are 10am – 5pm and on Sundays 11am – 5pm. (Birthday Party Guests are welcome to come in during “member hour” from 11am – 12pm on Sundays).
Your guests are welcome to play before or after your private party time. It is up to you as the host to decide what time you’d like to invite your guests to come and play! If your guests are not coming to play before the party we do recommend they arrive 30 minutes prior to the private party time. The Museum can be busy on the weekends and we want to make sure that all your guests can get to the party on time.
Is there a particular format for the guest list?
If you decide to book, a guest list will be provided to you. You will fill out everyone’s first and last names who will be attending your party by the Thursday before your party. This guest list is left at admissions. Your guests will come to admissions, state that they are here for your child’s birthday party; they will be checked off the list and invited inside.
How do I get all my guests back together once they’re playing in the Museum?
Answer: Our birthday party staff will make an announcement over our PA system for your guests to come back to admissions desk -about 5-10 minutes before your party starts. Our staff member will then escort your guests back to the room.
